Need a hand around the house in Waldorf?

A load of trash for the convenience center, a swing set to assemble, boxes to carry: post the task, set a reward, and choose from the people who offer to help. Your payment is held until you confirm the job is done.

Bounty is just getting started in Charles County. Read what that means before you post.

Common tasks

Small jobs that are hard to find help for.

Jobs too small to hire a company for, and too much to fit around everything else.

A run to the convenience center

In much of Charles County, household trash goes to a county convenience center unless you pay a private hauler. Someone with room in their vehicle can take the bags, recycling or cardboard for you.

Assembly, inside and out

A bunk bed, a desk, a dining set or a backyard swing-set kit put together, and the packaging cleared away.

Moving help

Loading or unloading a truck, carrying boxes, or moving furniture between rooms or into a storage unit.

Yard cleanup

Leaves raked and bagged, mulch spread, a fence line cleared, or branches stacked after a storm.

Errands and pickups

Groceries collected, a return dropped off, or a piece of furniture you bought online picked up from the seller.

Help by phone or online

A new phone set up, email sorted out, a printer working again. Remote tasks don't depend on someone living nearby, so anyone on Bounty can offer.

These are examples, not a menu. Describe what you need in your own words. Not sure what to offer? See what tasks typically cost.

How Bounty works

Post a task. Set a reward. Choose who helps.

On Bounty a task is called a bounty, and the person who does it is a hunter. Here's the whole process, start to finish.

  1. Describe the task

Say what needs doing, which street it's on, and when. A few plain sentences are enough. You can start right here, without an account.

  2. Set a reward

Choose the amount, from $5. You pay it by card on Stripe's secure checkout, and Bounty holds it. Nobody is paid yet.

  3. Review the offers in the app

People nearby can offer to take the task. Offers arrive in the free Bounty app for iPhone and Android. Sign in with the email you posted with; the first time, tap “Forgot password” on the sign-in screen to set one.

  4. Choose a hunter, or nobody

Each offer shows the person's name, a note from them, how long they've been on Bounty, how many tasks they've completed and their ratings. Pick one, then agree the timing and share the house number in the app's messages. If nobody suits you, you don't have to choose anyone.

  5. Confirm it's done, and only then are they paid

When the job is finished to your satisfaction, confirm it in the app. That's what releases the reward. Until you do, it stays held.

Your money and who helps

Exactly what Bounty does with your money.

No app can promise every person is trustworthy or every task gets done. Here's what Bounty actually does, and what it doesn't, so you can decide for yourself.

Held until you confirm the job is done

You pay the reward when you post, and Bounty holds it through Stripe. Your hunter is paid only when you confirm the task is finished in the app. No one else can release it.

A full refund before you choose anyone

Until you've chosen a hunter, you can cancel the task in the app and the whole payment goes back to your card. After someone has started, cancelling needs their agreement, or you can report a problem.

You pick the person

Nobody is assigned to you. Before choosing, read each person's note and see how long they've been on Bounty and how many tasks they've completed.

Ratings only from completed tasks

Two people can rate each other only after finishing a task together. Someone new won't have ratings yet, which is common on a young service, so read their note closely.

Your house number stays private

Your street is enough for the post. People browsing see only the general area. Give the full address to the person you choose, in the app's messages.

When a hunter goes quiet or a job goes wrong

Don't confirm until you're satisfied. Message your hunter in the app first; if that doesn't settle it, use “Report a problem” in the app. The reward isn't released unless you confirm.

What an identity check does, and doesn't, mean

Before a hunter can cash out, Stripe checks their identity and bank details. That confirms who receives the money. It is not a background check, and Bounty doesn't check licenses, insurance or references. Look at each profile, read each note, and choose for yourself.

If anyone asks to be paid some other way, such as cash, gift cards or a payment app, say no. Paying through Bounty is what keeps your money held until the job is done.

Who it's for

Whoever has the list, and not the time.

Homeowners

One-off jobs without signing up for a service: a yard to clear, a shed kit to build, a trailer's worth of junk to move. You set the reward and decide who does it.

Working parents and busy households

The things that pile up between work, school and everything else. Write the task once, and handle offers and messages from your phone when you have a minute.

Older adults and family caregivers

Whoever posts and pays manages the task, so a family member can post from their own account using a parent's street. Agree the plan together first, and say in the description who will be home.

Small businesses

Occasional help without a hire: unloading a delivery, setting up for an event, sorting a stockroom. You pay by card and the receipt goes to your email.

What Bounty isn't

Bounty doesn't replace a licensed contractor, home care, medical care or an emergency service, and hunters aren't Bounty employees. Please don't use it for electrical, plumbing, gas, roofing or structural work, for personal care or medication, or for anything that needs a license. In an emergency, call 911.

Questions

Before you post.

Is Bounty really available in Waldorf?

You can post here today, and your task is shown to people near it. What's limited is how many people nearby have signed up to help, and that number is still small. Remote tasks, like help with a phone or computer, can be taken by anyone on Bounty.

What does it cost?

The reward you set, and nothing more. There's no posting fee and no subscription. Bounty's service fee comes out of the reward when your hunter is paid.

How much should I offer?

Whatever the task is worth to you, from $5. As a rough guide, people often offer $20–35 for a grocery run, $35–60 for yard work, $40–75 to assemble furniture and $60–120 for moving help. If your hunter will have to drive a way, offering a little more helps. See more typical rates.

When am I charged, and when is the hunter paid?

Your card is charged when you post from this page, and Bounty holds the money. The hunter is paid only after you confirm in the app that the job is done.

How do I choose who does the task?

In the Bounty app, each offer shows the person's name, their note to you, how long they've been on Bounty, how many tasks they've completed and their ratings. Message them with questions, then choose one person, or nobody.

What if nobody offers to help?

Then nobody is paid. You can keep waiting, or cancel in the app and the full payment goes back to your card. The reward can't be changed after you've paid, so to offer more, cancel and post again with a higher reward or clearer details.

Who are the hunters?

People who have signed up to take on tasks. They aren't Bounty employees and aren't background-checked. Stripe verifies a hunter's identity before they can cash out, which confirms who is paid but not their skills or conduct.

Do I need the app?

To finish, yes. You can describe and pay for a task here, but reading offers, messaging your hunter and confirming the job happen in the Bounty app on iPhone or Android. A family member can post and manage a task from their own account.

What if the hunter stops responding, or the job goes wrong?

Don't confirm the job. The reward isn't released until you do. Message your hunter in the app first; if that doesn't settle it, use “Report a problem” in the app. If anyone is in danger, call 911.

Can I ask a question before I post?

Please do. Email the Bounty team at leewright093@gmail.com. If posting from this page is difficult, tell us what you need done and we'll help you get it posted.
